EXPLORER CAVING WEEKEND
Water based training in Sailing, Powerboating, Kayaking and NEW! Sub Aqua
What: Sailing, Powerboating, Canoe/Kayak courses and Sub Aqua with assessments for NGB qualifications if appropriate / Scout permits.
Who: Scouts aged 13+, Explorers, Young Leaders, Network, all adults in Lincolnshire scouting. For those under 18, a leader will need to attend with the Young people. Event Passports may be held for Explorers / Young Leaders, please include a copy of the event passport.
Location: 15th Lincoln Scouts Water HQ at Apex Lake, North Hykeham. There is camping on site.
Cost: £30 per participant for Sailing, Powerboating and Canoe/Kayaking. £50 for Sub Aqua. Bring your own tent. Water sports kit needed (wet-suits or old clothes + old trainers. Buoyancy aids provided). The only additional costs will be for any specific assessment/certificate costs (e.g. BCU).
Food: We will provide food from Saturday am – Sunday lunch. You will need to feed yourselves on Friday night (we will have hot drink making facilities) – you could bring a packed tea, have tea before you arrive, or get something on your way! You may also want to bring supper snacks!
Timings – arrive after 1900 in Friday 12th May 2017, leave no later than 1600 Sunday 14th May 2017.

Lincolnshire Scouts will be holding a heat of the Honda RYA Youth RIB Championship, National Powerboating Championship to select two representatives (one in each age group (8-12 & 13-16)) to represent Lincolnshire Scouts at the Midlands Area Final. This event is open to cubs, scouts and explorers.
Participants book onto a session which will be approximately 2 hours long, the first hour will be an introduction to the boat and practice in small groups followed by timed runs in the second hour.
At the end of the day the fastest participant in each age group will be offered the chance to represent Lincolnshire Scouts in the Area Final on 1st July.

Girton Sailing Club Day Rate: £10 (by cheque following online booking, please make cheques payable to “Girton Sailing Club” and send them to HYRC, 19 Morton Front, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, DN21 3BD, please write your order number on the back)
Places are only confirmed following receipt of payment of the Girton Sailing Club Day Rate and will only be held for up to 7 days.
Spectators are also asked to book on, however, the day rate is not payable. Places per session are limited (Due to the nature of the event and the limited numbers able to participate we ask for a maximum of two entries per group). No spaces left? About The Championship
The Honda RYA Youth RIB Championship, sponsored by Honda and Highfield, is a National Championship in which 8 - 16 year old Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) drivers can demonstrate their skills with the goal of winning a Highfield 460 or a Honwave T40 for their club.

The RYA (Royal Yachting Association), through its affiliated clubs, organisations and training centres will again run a National Championship in Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBs) for juniors/youths. Clubs, organisations and training centres wishing to participate hold local heats, at their premises, to determine who they put forward to the Midlands Area Final on 1st July 2017 at Staunton Harold Sailing Club. There are 13 Area Finals and the winner in each age group (8-12 years and 13-16 years) takes part in the National Final held at the Southampton Boat Show on 17th September 2017. RYA SAFETY BOAT
This course is appropriate for those providing safety boat cover for water activities with a power boat. The pre-requisite is Powerboat level 2. The course will be held at Girton on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 April. Further details can be obtained form firstname.lastname@example.org. If you're aged over 17 we've got a great training opportunity for you. Learn to lead archery sessions with your Sections with our beginners' instructors' course. You will be trained and assessed by accredited Archery GB coaches who will show you how to:
• shoot arrows
• deliver mini sessions
• select equipment
• set up range
• design games
The course is only for teaching beginners, Instructors are not permitted to teach others to teach. You will be able to lead fun and safe Archery sessions for beginners. The course takes place at Dukes Covert campsite near Ancaster and all equipment and documentation are included in the course fee. Course participants will need to bring their lunch and catering is not provided. Coffee and tea will be available. Camping can be provided if necessary at a small additional cost. All members who are aged 17 and over on the day of assessment are eligible to take part.

• 20 May 9am - 5pm
• 21 May 9am - 5pm
How to book
Complete the booking form if you wish to attend and send to Archery Instructor, Lincolnshire Scouts, 5 Rutland Close, South Witham, Grantham, Lincolnshire, NG33 5QA. You'll need to pay a £50 deposit (non-refundable) to secure your place and full payment will need to be received by 1st April 2017 to secure your place. Cheques should be payable to Lincolnshire Scout County. The cost covers registration fees to Archery UK. Grants may be available from the DGB at headquarters.

A Bellboat Helm course has been arranged at Leicester on the 1st and 2nd April 2017. The cost will be £50 (£40 with scout Permit only) plus food and overnight costs if people want to stay.
