FULLY BOOKED Cubs on the Water@ Girton Sailing Club Event 1

Saturday, 12 May, 2018 (All day)

This is a one day event that runs on each day separately and not a camping event. 

Places fill very quickly, book early to avoid disappointment! If the event fills before the closing date, we will stop accepting bookings.

Saturday 12th May OR Sunday 13th May 2018

Water based activity day, including Sailing, Canoeing and Water Safety

How to Book:

Step 1: Leader selects which date they want their pack to attend.

Step 2: Distribute the activity part of the form to their Cub Scouts 

Step 3: Collects forms and Money from their Cub Scouts. Should you have a cub who cannot swim, please get in touch, this is not a problem, we just need to know.

Step 4: Send all forms and Money to the below address, please remember to keep a copy yourself! Please add in forms for all Leaders or Young Leaders (this is the same form – under 18’s will need it to be signed) accompanying your group and which group you are.

Step 5: Leader will receive a confirmation email to let you know that it has been received within 2 weeks of it arriving.

Step 6: Shortly before the event, Leader will receive any further information to this sheet.

Please make cheques payable to:- Lincolnshire Scout County and send these back with your completed forms by 6th April 2018 to COW 2018, Flat 12, New Moon Apartments, Headingley, Leeds, LS6 2DB. 

What is it?

 

Cubs on the Water is a full-on day of water based activities for Cubs. Throughout the course of the day, the Cubs will be able to take part in a multitude of different activities; such as Canoeing and Sailing. Cubs on the Water allows the Cubs to gain their time on the water badge and get to meet other cubs from all around the County! This year you will get the choice of one of two dates, a Saturday or a Sunday.

Who can go?

Any Cub may attend as part of their pack alongside their Leader. There will be no individual bookings from Cubs taken. Cubs Packs are welcome to bring Young Leaders to help them, however, there will be no activities provided for them.

Cost:

£5 per Cub, accompanying leaders at no cost.

Food and equipment:

Please bring your own packed lunch/drinks. Please may you also bring a gazebo/shelter in case of rain and a bin bag to take away your rubbish. Buoyancy Aids will be provided.

Kit List (for Cubs):

       3 extra complete changes of clothes (REALLY!): this is so they remain warm and dry to ensure that they can get the most out of the day. This must include 3 long pairs of trousers (no jeans), 3 jumpers and 3 pairs of socks.

  •        Waterproof Coat
  •        Waterproof Trousers
  •        Sun Hat and Sun Tan Lotion (Weather Dependant)
  •        1 pair of shoes for the water – these need to be old and able to get wet/muddy. They cannot be Wellies, Flip Flops or Crocs.
  •        If you have water sports clothing, this is also fine to wear.
  •        1 dry pair of shoes to travel home in.
  •        Towel
  •        4 plastic carrier bags for wet clothes! (Saves the car getting soggy!)
  •        Packed Lunch (no glass bottles)
  •        Water Bottle
  •        Prescribed medicines – where necessary (eg. Inhaler, Epipen, etc)

It is important to make sure that your Cub is safe, warm and dry so they are able to take part fully. Please ensure they are properly equipped, as per this list.

Timings:

9.00 – Leader Briefing: This will let you know any additional information about the day. It is important that leaders are there for this.

9.30 to 9.45 – Cubs arrive between 9.30 and 9.45. Cubs are to arrive dressed ready for their first session with their jumper and knecker on.

During the activities, timings are a rough guide:

10.00 to 13.00 – Three activity sessions: the kit list allows for a change of clothes for each session

13.00 – Lunch: please bring a packed lunch and drinks

14.00 to 16.00 - Two more sessions: the kit list allows for a change of clothes for each session

16.00 – Closing

16.30 – Cubs to be collected
