Rabbit Run 2017

The Rabbit Run trophy has left the county for the first time! 142 people took part in this years Rabbit Run. The event, held this year at Collingham Scout HQ, saw 20 teams compete for the trophy and the toilet seat while 5 teams of chasers roamed the country side trying to find them.

Rabbit Run is a night hike with a difference for everybody aged 13+. Each team is given a map and list of questions which they can answer by visiting the grid references on the question sheet, the further away from the start point the question is, the more points it's worth. They have one hour to plan a route to collect as many points as possible, and then five and a half hours to complete the route with bonus points available for getting back on time. If a team is caught by the chasers they lose two points. This year the trophy was won by an exceptional effort from Griffin ESU from Derbyshire, and the toilet seat for the loosing team was taken by Grantham Explorers "The Poacher Squad". It was great to be joined by Explorers from the region this year and thanks to Collingham Scout group for the use of their HQ as our base and support throughout the event. Also a special mention to Michelle Nelson and Selina Sanderson who amongst many others helping them out, kept everybody fed and watered all weekend.

The challenge is on for next year - get the trophy back to Lincolnshire!
