As the lockdown continues and we cannot enjoy Scouting in person, groups are working to adapt their programme to deliver it remotely. Much of #ScoutsAtHome is possible by adapting our exciting programme of activity and challenge.
Holbeach Explorers have been following up on activity they started before face-to-face Scouting was put on hold, taking photos for evidence towards the Creative Arts Badge, picking up the £6 food challenge as part of the Global Issues Badge (surviving on £6 of food for 3 days) and helping a vulnerable friend or relative through this period (if they can do so safely) towards the Community Impact Badge.
1st Moulton and Whaplode Scout group have been encouraging new life skills around the home – baking, hoovering, making different items, lego scenes and sending out messages of comfort to all.
Many of you are joining sessions from other Scout groups in the UK and international locations, or from beyond Scouting
Holbeach Explorers have tried links with The Great Indoors programme, JOTI, the Stay Connected Challenge as well as iDEA (Inspiring Digital Enterprise Awards), a free online training tool to develop skills to gain badges and industry-recognised awards.
1st Moulton and Whaplode Scout group joined Northumberland Scouts, amongst the 95,342 campers on their camp at home world record attempt. Some have been camping or den sleeping all of April.
Have you been creative with #ScoutsAtHome activities? We would love to hear from you.
If you have noticed an activity here or anywhere else, take inspiration, make contact to share resources or perhaps tell us about what you’ve been doing so we can share with others.
Check out our Facebook gallery full of Scouting at home ideas and inspiration.
Most importantly if there are areas of the programme that you are wondering how you are going to cover, do let us know and we will see how we can support you to gain resources.
