Selection Process for Trustees:

To comply with The Scout Association’s Policy, Organisation and Rules 5.3.1.4, the County’s Trustee Board has held an open selection process to choose the Trustees that the AGM will be asked to appoint. The Trustees are now to be focussed purely on governance.  These “volunteer” appointments are for a term of between one and three years although Trustees may stand down during that period if they so wish.

The Trustee vacancies are:

  • Chair,
  • Treasurer,
  • Trustee – 7 vacancies
  • Trustee aged between 18 and 25 years – 1 vacancy

The above vacancies are being advertised both externally and to all members of Lincolnshire Scouting.

Two ex-officio posts, “term limited” according to their scouting role and not to three years, are the County Commissioner (County Lead Volunteer), and County Youth Commissioner (County Youth Lead).

An administrator will be provided by the County’s support team to take minutes for the Board of Trustees and to assist with related tasks.

Frequency of Trustee Board meetings:  six per year plus the Annual General Meeting

Self-nominations for these vacancies are welcome from all. Existing membership of scouting is not a pre-requisite. Experience of governance, perhaps through work or within the charity sector, may be an advantage. Appropriate training and support will be provided. Nomination forms can be completed here by 31 August 2024 at the latest. Eligibility to be a Charity Trustee is essential.

Nominations will be reviewed by the current Trustees to ensure an appropriate mix of skills and experience. If nominations exceed the places available, details will be published on the County website to enable County Scout Council members to vote in an indicative ballot. Details of nominees will be published by 3 September 2024. Voting will commence from 4 – 10 September 2024.  The current Trustees will then determine their recommendation for the composition of the Trustee Board to be approved at the AGM on 21 September 2024.
